Privacy and Online Safety Statement

Please take a moment to read this important information about how we use your personal information and acting safely while online. This information complements the Privacy Statement and Terms of Use available at the footer of each page.

We ask you to provide at least your full name, age, and a working email address. We take the privacy of our members seriously and will not disclose the information you provide to any third-party or other member of the community without your consent, except where required by law. Your email address will only be used to contact you directly, to send you community-wide bulletins (normally once per month), and to advise you of upcoming events if you opt in.

Any information you provide on a public message board will be available for collection by members of this community as well as the general public. Our forums are not password-protected and should be treated as a public online space.

You should always be careful when providing information about yourself to others, and communicating through BVA and VATSIM is no exception. BVA will never ask for personal information except your name, age, and email address.

BVA does not vouch for individuals’ certifications. As a result, someone claiming to be a real-world pilot or flight instructor may or may not actually hold those ratings.

While we have always done our best to protect your private information and will continue to do so, our servers are not 100% immune to attacks, especially those which exploit security gaps in the operating system or the database we use. For this reason we urge you to use a unique name and password that you do not use anywhere else. That way, if our servers were to be compromised, the amount of damage to you would be limited.
